Doors Open Milwaukee
Built in 1917 by Christian immigrants from Lebanon and Syria, St. George Melkite Church will again be participating in Doors Open Milwaukee. Designed by Erhard Brielmaier and Sons, the architects of St. Josephat’s Basilica and St. Benedict the Moor, the church features Milwaukee Cream City brick and is crowned with three signature onion domes, representing the Holy Trinity.
Inside, visitors will find a traditional Byzantine icon screen, a newly restored ceiling with a large icon of Christ, and perhaps a lingering scent of incense.
Come experience this historical landmark and living treasure of Eastern Christianity in our region. Our doors will be “open”:
- September 28th (10am–5pm)
- September 29th (12:15pm–5pm)
