FR. PHILARET (LITTLEFIELD) was born in New York City. He entered the Studion Monastery near Grottaferrata, Rome immediately after high school (1968).  In 1969 he was tonsured and then served on the staff of the Russian Center at Fordham University where a group of monks were forming the new Monastery of Our Savior – a community of the Studite Rule.  In 1973 he made profession of the schema at the Monastery in Steubenville, OH.  Working as a youth counselor and teacher, he continued his education.   In 1979 Father was elected protos (superior) and after serving three consecutive terms, Archbishop Ignatius (Ghattas) gave him the blessing of Hegumen or abbot.
In 1987 he was made pastor of Holy Trinity in Zanesville and Holy Resurrection in Columbus, OH.
Father Philaret has been pastor of St. George in Milwaukee since 1995.



FR. CHRISTOPHER HADLEY, SJ, was born in New York City and grew up in Washington and Idaho.  He entered the Society of Jesus in 1999 and was ordained to the priesthood in 2009.  He worked as a missionary in Burma and the Bahamas, taught at Gonzaga University, and did pastoral work at St. Raphael’s RC Church in Medford, MA.  Father is currently working towards his Ph.D. in theology at Marquette University.  He has been with us at St. George for almost a year now.  He has long had a love and interest in Byzantine spirituality and theology and has found a home at St. George’s.
